Mom’s Morning Show #169
May 21, 2008 by Tishia · Leave a Comment
Tishia Lee, Chele Neisler and Treece Smolinski were the crew for the show today.
This Week’s Theme: Virtual Assisting Your Way Home
The ladies moved the conversation in a couple different directions today. Treece brought up the subject of being a freelancer and working with someone so that if a customer contacts you about doing work but you are busy you have someone on your ‘team’ (per say) that you can give that work too. Tishia shared that she had a conversation yesterday with another VA about this exact thing and they talked about partnering up so that if someone contacted one of them about doing work and it was something they didn’t provide they could hand the work over to the other person and vise versa. The ladies also talked about first steps to starting a business and how personality and your skills all play into that role of choosing a business and starting a business.

Mom’s Morning Show #168
Kelly McCausey was joined by honorary guest Nicole Dean plus Mom’s Morning Show Crew Tishia Lee, Cara Mirabella, Carrie Lauth and Treece Smolinski.
This Week’s Theme: Virtual Assisting Your Way Home
The ladies grilled Nicole all about Shelancers and what the site is all about. From there the conversation moved to how VA’s can get new clients. Kelly suggested that a seasoned VA doesn’t need to run specials on their services because they are worth the price they now charge but a beginning VA can run specials to get clients so they gain some testimonials. Lots of great ideas were given by the ladies for ways that a VA can gain new clients.

Kelly McCausey was joined by Mom’s Morning show crew Tishia Lee and Chele Neisler.
This Week’s Theme: Virtual Assisting Your Way Home
The ladies talked about how a couple years ago new Virtual Assistants were being attacked by the VA’s that had been around for awhile. It was a big thing around the net for a little while and the newbies were being attacked for charging a less expensive rate just so they could get their feet wet, get their feet in the door. It doesn’t seem to be such an issue anymore, or at least it isn’t a public issue anymore.
Tishia shared how in the beginning when she was first starting out she felt ashamed for charging such a low rate but now that she’s been in business for over two years and has more experience she shared that she knows what she did back then was what she had to do to get her feet wet, build her client base and gain some experience. Kelly said there is nothing wrong with starting out with a low VA rate but you can’t stay there, you have to work your way up in pay.
The ladies also discussed some Virtual Assistant networking sites and other women’s professional networking sites.

Mom’s Morning Show #166
Kelly McCausey, Chele Neisler, Treece Smolinski, Tishia Lee and Cara Mirabella were the gang on Mom’s Morning Show today.
This Week’s Theme: First Steps To An Online Business
The ladies talked about personality and how it affects you in your business again today. The ladies shared what they think their personality types are. The conversation turned to ‘newbies’ interested in working at home and how it’s important to seek council on their business idea. This led into talking about people that seek out the help of a business coach and how as a business coach it should be their responsibility to give the truth and if an idea is a bad one, let them know. They shouldn’t be blowing fluff up your rump.
To end the discussion - in business it’s important to figure out your personality type and then find out a way to work with your weaknesses because we all have our areas of weakness and we need to find ways to work with them.

Journeys To Motherhood - Show #40
May 16, 2008 by Christina · Leave a Comment
Infertility can crush a woman’s psyche and very often men don’t know how to comfort their spouse or even deal with their own emotions about their infertility struggles. Sometimes an outside counselor can help couples deal with these powerful emotions that can ruin a marriage.
This week Barbara is joined by Elizabeth Cessna, a private counselor who specifically counsels infertility patients. She shares many tips that women can use to take care of themselves first rather than trying to please everyone around them. Elizabeth even gives permission to skip the baby showers or baptism parties if it’s too hard to handle.
Putting yourself first during this struggle is NOT selfish; it’s necessary.

The ladies threw in the towel on this week’s theme and talked about whatever they felt like talking about. Kelly just wasn’t feeling this week’s theme and told the ladies to chat about whatever. The ladies talked about how they handle working at home and if they have a bad day. Do you just throw in the towel and walk away from the computer or do you just go through the motions and do what you need to do?

This Week’s Theme: First Steps To An Online Business.
The conversation today started with Kelly briefly mentioning what she talked about yesterday and the questions she mentioned that you should ask yourself to decide if you are ready to work from home and start an online business.
Today Kelly moved the conversation to if you passed the ’should I’ test then the next step is to evaluate the things you like doing. She asked the ladies to share things from their past jobs (before they started working from home) that they enjoyed and how those things have carried over into your home based business.
