Tishia shared she was feeling black. Not in necessarily a ‘mood’ sort of way but black because of being sick. Beverly shared that she felt like brown was her dominant color today.
Beverly took the ladies in the direction of pursuing your dreams. She wanted to know if you were pursuing your dreams today. Treece shared that she was but there was one area in her life that she wasn’t. Tishia said yes and no.

This Week’s Theme: Growing Up VS Growing Old with Beverly Mahone
Beverly Mahone is our special guest this week. Beverly took the discussion in the direction of not letting the weight of the world weigh you down. And yes that means that we talked about health, weight, etc. Beverly wanted to know what was preventing/holding everyone back from getting out there three times a week and exercising for at least 30 minutes. Motivation and ourselves were the answers that Cara and Kelly gave. Tishia shared that she is at the point in her weight loss journey where she’s hit the plateau and she’s starting to slip back into her old mindset and losing motivation. Beverly gave her some great advice.
Today was another great show with Beverly sharing lots of advice, reading some things out of her book Whatever! A Baby Boomer’s Journey Into Middle Age and just chatting. If you missed the show you will want to check out the archives!

Host Kelly McCausey was joined by Mom’s Morning Show Crew Aurelia Williams and Tishia Lee today.
This Week’s Theme: Growing Up VS Growing Old with Beverly Mahone
Beverly Mahone is our special guest this week. She shared some statistics today and talked about Baby Boomer’s and Generation Jones (those born in the 70’s). Beverly and Kelly talked about your 40’s and Beverly shared that your 50’s are amazing, at least to her. She doesn’t relate to those who are 70, 80 or 90 but she does respect them and tries to learn from them.
Beverly asked if anyone feared Alzheimer’s? Aurelia said that she fears cancer the most and that she thinks you fear what you’ve seen in your life. Tishia piped up to share that she doesn’t fear Alzheimer’s but she is going through this in her family with her grandmother and how hard it is to be around her. She said she finds herself avoiding calling her grandparents and avoids visiting them as often as she used to.
Beverly brought up the topic of letting go of your past and unpacking your baggage. She said that you need to look at the situation realistically and if it’s not working you need to try something different. For example if you’ve asked your husband 20,000 times to take out the garbage on Tuesdays but he still isn’t doing it, you need a new approach to the situation. If you keep repeating the same thing over and over you are in denial. Aurelia said that when working with clients she sees this situation a lot and the first thing she tries to do is get to the root of the baggage because once you realize it’s there, it’s easier to deal with it.

This Week’s Theme: A Man is not a Financial Plan
The ladies shared some small talk this morning about finances and kids and credit cards. Is it a good idea to get a credit card for your kids? Do you just give them one that has your name on it, etc and allow them to use it for emergencies only?
The conversation went in lots of different directions today.
$10.00 Wal-Mart Gift Card Give-Away:
Kelly was giving away some $10.00 Wal-Mart gift cards. All listeners had to do was call in and give Carrie some feedback on what they liked about the show this week.
LaTara Ham-Ying called in and shared that she contacted Kristine McKinley about setting up a time to talk to her about her finances, etc. The show was inspirational to her and took her back to her single mom days. She shared that it motivated her to get up off her butt and do something instead of always relying on her husbands income.
Tsoniki Crazy Bull called in to share that Carrie’s topic made her realize that her mom did a great job as a single mom raising her. She shared that her mom didn’t have to have a man in her life to support her. Tsoniki said that the show made her appreciate her mom even more than she already did.
We even had a gentleman call in and share some advice about this week’s topic. Dean called in to share that he agrees that a man should not be a financial plan.

She said it’s a good feeling knowing that she hasn’t relied on a man to provide that stuff or the finances for that stuff!

Summertime is almost here but does that mean kids have to stop learning or should forget all that they just learned? No! We simply have to make summer learning fun and get away from the traditional classroom setting.
My guest host this week is Annette Yen from Relaxed Homeschooling and she has some great ideas for finding learning experiences in everyday life. With just a little creativity you can have fun with your child and teach them something new at the same time!
Carrie Lauth is back for day two of leading the pack. She’s a part of the regular Mom’s Morning Show Crew but she’s in charge of leading this week because it was her idea for this week’s topic. She was joined by Kelly McCausey and Cara Mirabella.
This Week’s Theme: A Man is not a Financial Plan
Today on the show Carrie had the girls talking about planning for your retirement and things that you can do to help plan for your financial future. Carrie said that she has dabbled in the stock market before and it was good to her so she might invest in the stock market again. She shared that she doesn’t want to mess around with individual stocks.
Kelly shared that the only time she did any type of automated saving plan during her first 40 years was the year she did a Christmas club. A year ago she met with a financial adviser and invested in a couple mutual funds. Kelly said the same thing that Carrie said, you don’t miss the money when it automatically comes out.
Cara shared that someone once told her that you can borrow money for anything but your retirement. You can get a loan for a car, a house, college, etc but once you hit 65 and can’t work anymore you can’t borrow.

This morning Carrie Lauth took the reigns and led things. Mom’s Morning Show Crew Tishia Lee and Chele Neisler joined Carrie to talk about this week’s topic.
This Week’s Theme: A Man is not a Financial Plan
Carrie has a strong passion with this topic and has been wanting to talk about it for awhile now. It’s going to be a great week listening to Carrie’s input and take on this topic.
Today Carrie was talking and referencing the book The Feminine Mistake: Are We Giving Up Too Much? You will want to read Carrie’s blog post all about the book and her views on it.
The conversation also turned to the welfare system, social security, and other odds and ends. The ladies talked about a blog post that was posted in the past about moms not taking time for themselves and how it’s selfish for a mom to need time to herself. All the ladies totally disagreed with that and agreed that it’s a necessity for moms to take the time to do something for themselves and to spend some time away from their kids/family.
Books Carrie Mentioned:
There was a ton of information shared, statistics shared, etc on the show today. If you missed it, be sure to listen to the archives. Carrie was full of information and everyone enjoyed her. Join her again tomorrow!

Tishia shared about how she’s thinking about buying a laptop with the stimulus payment she will be getting back from the IRS but she’s wavering back and forth and hasn’t made her mind up yet. That turned the conversation to taxes. Cara shared that she will be having tax expert Kristine McKinley on her show again in a few weeks.
The ladies talked about taking the time every month to print business receipts, etc and staying organized and on top of your business bookkeeping/record keeping.
