The Mother’s Telling Stories Short Story Writing Contest has been a hot topic the past couple days on Mom’s Morning Show and with the deadline of the contest fast approaching Kelly decided it would be helpful to talk about the task of tackling writing.
Tsoniki called in to share that she is really stepping outside of her comfort zone in entering this contest because she doesn’t let people read her writing, besides her blog. Tishia shared that she thinks her writing isn’t strong enough or good enough to enter a contest like this and Kelly shared that she is confident in her writing and knows that she could write a book.
Some powerful advice was given by a first time caller, Dr. Adams, who happened to be an author. Dr. Adams shared that the writing process is really pretty simple and that all you need to do is simply write from your heart, in other words just be real. He also gave a bit of advice to Tishia, about her feeling that her writing stinks and isn’t good enough, that seemed a bit harsh but oh so true. He point blank told her to “get over it.”
So mom’s my question to you is - are you entering the writing contest and if not what is holding you back? My advice to you is ‘just do it’. What have you got to lose? Absolutely nothing!
Don’t forget that we also have the Lil Squeakers contest going on this week and to enter all you need to do is simply answer the toddler Christmas question here on the site.
I apologize for being so late in updating the blog for today’s show - it truly has been a manic Monday
This is Tishia and if you want to put me out of my misery of having to remember to post here everyday we are still looking for volunteers and you can email me if interested. It really is a prestigious job you would be taking on, I promise
We covered a few different topics this morning and even went in a direction that we weren’t anticipating when Jennifer Gniadecki joined us - you’ll have to listen to see what she brought up in conversation!
Our contest sponsor this week is Maryann Smith and she is giving away a pair of Lil Squeakers. Squeaker shoes squeak with every step and will be enjoyed by toddlers. These baby shoes, sneakers and sandals will provide hours of fun for your precious child. You can check them out here. Make sure to enter for a chance to win! All you have to do is answer the survey right here on our site about your Christmas shopping plans for your toddler.
If you are a mom and looking for something to pass some time away why not enter the Mother’s Telling Stories Short Story Writing Competition? The deadline for all entries is December 31st, 2007 so you still have time. You have nothing to lose and by entering you will have a chance to win a prize basket worth over $500! You’ll have no excuse not to enter after listening to Kelly share some tackle it writing tips on tomorrow’s show!
