January 7, 2008 by Vera · Leave a Comment

Here are my 2 beauties. This picture was taken this past summer at the Mercy Walk of my 2 daughters.

This week’s show I’m sharing how we can go through hard times
and still scrapbook it. Recently my daughter Victoria, the older one, was
diagnosed with hodgkins lymphoma.

We are very blessed that it IS curable and she will be ok
through this.

Listen in how I share what we can do when we’re going through these hard times. Bring your camera and lighten the mood! Everyone loves to get a smile for their scrapbooks.

Tell your friends, especially if they’re going through something tough.Victoria has gone through 2 sessions of chemotherapy and probably will have to go through to 6 sessions, please pray for healing. :-)

Wonder Years Radio - Show #16

December 19, 2007 by Christina · Leave a Comment

It’s been about four months since school started in September and if you still feel like the PTA or the parent groups are too cliquey and you won’t be able to make a difference, come listen to this week’s guest.

Christine Lane is a personal trainer and mother of two from CA who saw a flaw in her school’s fundraising program and took it upon herself to come up with a plan for a change. Although she was met with some opposition, she was given permission to organize a healthy fundraiser and is meeting the challenge of how to raise significant funds for school programs without selling high fat, unhealthy foods.

Christine’s program is being met with approval from the local business community and she plans on creating a website showcasing the steps she is taking to make this fundraising event a huge success. She hopes to provide other schools with a blueprint to achieve similar success. If you have event planning tips or ways to get sponsors, feel free to email Christine at christine@thestudentbodychallenge.com

It’s fabulous to hear of a miracle as it’s actually ‘happening’, especially when it’s happening to one of our listeners whom we’ve been praying for!  The baby will be here December 20th!  (what a Christmas gift!)   But the route in which this baby has come into Addison’s life, is one that isn’t traveled often.

It reminds us that we never know from where, nor from WHOM, our baby is coming. And this story will also remind us that miracles DO happen!  Addison wasn’t going to have a Christmas tree nor a Christmas dinner, no celebration, nothing.  NOW she is preparing for the Christmas of her life!

Wonder Years Radio - Show #15

December 12, 2007 by Christina · Leave a Comment

Food allergies are becoming more common in kids but also more dangerous. Keeping food allergic kids safe at school should be a priority but many schools do not know the importance of having the entire staff trained in food allergy safety.

My guest this week is Maria Acebal, the founder of www.FoodAllergySafe.org. This is a non-profit organization that provides in-service food allergy safety training. Listen in as Maria shares with us steps parents can take to educate their child’s teacher about food allergies and steps other parents can take if they know a classmates suffers from food allergies.

This is a lengthy interview but full of very important information that every parent and every school should know. For links to other sites mentioned on the show, please visit www.WonderYearsRadio.com
