Wonder Years Radio - Show #19

January 16, 2008 by Christina · Leave a Comment

My guest this week is Aurelia Williams, host of the Parenting My Teen podcast, and she shares her story of how much homework her son received during the holiday break, her reaction to the assignments and the steps she took to change the situation.

If we never ask the question, “Can this be changed?” then we’ll never know the answer. Sometimes teachers are willing to compromise over certain things, so it never hurts to ask.

A lot of us first heard her story on Twitter so now you can hear the resolution!

Mom’s Morning Show #79

January 15, 2008 by Tishia · Leave a Comment

Today on Mom’s Morning Show Kelly and Tishia were supposed to be joined by mom author Paula Spencer (author of Momfidence!: An Oreo Never Killed Anybody and Other Secrets of Happier Parenting) but due to a family emergency Paula was prevented from joining them today. It actually worked out for the best that she canceled because there were some beta issues that left Kelly & Tishia hanging for about 14 minutes! But what a great audience they have because everyone hung out in the chat room patiently waiting :-)

Once the show was done having beta issues the ladies shared about games and how fun it is to have group get togethers, which Kelly mentioned is one thing she misses about being up in Northern Michigan with all her friends. If you’ve never heard of the game spoons you can read all about it here. Spoons isn’t for the mild, timid person at heart! It’s a wild game ;-) And Tishia shared that Pit is another obnoxiously, loud, chair tipping, hand slapping, screaming game of fun!

The last leg of the show was meant to be about working at home and questions about working from home but there didn’t end up being a lot of conversation about this topic. Things were a bit discombobulated with the beta issues & the show getting off to a late start.

Tune in tomorrow, to Mom’s Morning Show, and listen to Barbara Winters of Journey to Motherhood share about well her journey to motherhood!

Mom’s Morning Show #77

January 11, 2008 by Tishia · 2 Comments

It’s Friday on Mom’s Morning Show!  Tishia wasn’t able to be on the show this morning so Annette Yen & Chele Neisler joined Kelly.

Are you following the presidential candidates and everything going on with that?  Kelly shared that she thought it was cool that in her lifetime she is able to see a colored man and a woman running for president.

Annette took some time to share about how long she’s been working online and how far technology has come since she first started.   Annette also talked about her Kids Party Business.  Annette likes to dabble in lots of different things on the internet, twitter being one of her favorite things.

Chele shared that when she first started out it was acceptable to use a free company like Geo Cities to build your website, a free website company.  This brought the ladies into conversation about how much it used to cost to register a domain & get web hosting!  Wow thankfully the price has come down…a lot.

Mom’s Morning Show #76

Kelly and Tishia had another co-host join them on Mom’s Morning Show. Sandra Jensen of Family Foodies joined the two of them.  First things first the ladies talked about the weather and how crazy it’s been all over everywhere.

Sandra shared with the listeners about utilizing their crock pots to help save time in preparing meals.  For the busy mom, which we all are, throwing some items in your crock pot and then not having to worry about it until it’s time to eat is a great sanity saver for us.  Sandra just created an ebook on Freezer cooking too.

Kelly gave the suggestion of a crock pot club.  One Monday morning we will share a grocery list of ingredients & on Wednesday someone will walk us through the recipe & everyone will throw the crock pot recipe together while listening to the show.  Then that night we’ll all share the same dinner :-)

What are some of your favorite crock pot recipes?  Leave a comment and share with us!

Kelly had Alyssa share about her new writing business that she started a couple months ago and how that’s been going, the challenges of working at home, the decision to raise rates, etc. Alyssa also shared about her new information product (30 day journaling guide) that was just released on Monday and to sweeten the pot she added an affiliate program to it! Mom’s Morning Show #74

January 8, 2008 by Tishia · Leave a Comment

Kelly & Tishia were back and full of energy this morning on Mom’s Morning Show!  They are both really enjoying the new ‘format’ of the show - talking about work at home topics every day and moving away from the ‘themed’ days they used to have.

Special Guest:
Kristine McKinley of Financial Tips for WAHMs joined Kelly & Tishia to share about one of her new information products - “How to Hire Your Kids in Your Business: A Step by Step Guide”.  You can actually hire your kids to help in your business and get a tax deduction!  Find out more by visiting here.

Are you ready to attack your debt in 2008?  You won’t want to miss Kristine’s FREE  teleseminar on Thursday January 17, 2008 at 12 CST.  As previously mentioned this class is free but Kristine does ask one thing of you in return - simply provide your most urgent question about credit card debt & getting out of debt once & for all to her before the call. You can find out more information and sign up for the call here.

The information Kristine shared was informative, wonderful and they could of talked for quite awhile longer!  Tishia shared she is looking forward to the teleseminar next Thursday!

The end of the show Kelly shared suggestions for what to do if your business is slow right now, after the Holidays.  It can be something as simple as emailing your clients and letting them know that you have some time available in your schedule.

Alyssa Avant will be joining Kelly & Tishia tomorrow as a co-host.

Mom’s Morning Show #73

January 7, 2008 by Tishia · Leave a Comment

Welcome back everyone!  Mom’s Morning Show is back after a 3 week Holiday Hiatus!  Kelly & Tishia were glad to be back.

As listeners you probably won’t notice much of a change but there is a new format for Mom’s Morning Show.  Kelly has done away with the ‘themed’ days so there will no longer be Manic Monday, Tackle it Tuesday, etc.  Each day we will now talk about things related to working at home.  It only makes sense seems how that is where our conversations usually went anyways.

Aurelia Williams joined us today to share about her recent TV appearances!  Aurelia Williams is a Personal Life Coach and was asked to be interviewed on TV about New Year’s Resolutions.

Kelly shared about the experience of trying to use the computer and type with a baby on her lap.  Tishia shared that she can’t imagine how mom’s with young children do it because Caleb was home today and it’s pretty easy for her to work because he’s 9 & plays video games, etc without much needed from her.  Kelly & Tishia said hats off to the moms that do it!
