Wonder Years Radio - Show #25

Feb 27, 2008 Author: Christina | Filed under: Uncategorized

Unplugging our kids from the latest electronic gadget and encouraging them to read for pleasure sure is difficult! Sometimes we have to set the example and be creative to get our children interested in books.

Our school participates in PARP every year, which is the PTA-sponsored Parents As Reading Partners program. Each year the PARP committee gets more and more creative with their themes and prizes for kids who read 15 minutes everyday with a partner.

Even if you don’t have a PTA at your school, a group of dedicated parents can certainly form a similar program. Listen in for details and more creative ideas!

Mom’s Morning Show #108

Feb 26, 2008 Author: Tishia | Filed under: Uncategorized

Mom’s Morning Crew Kelly McCausey, Tishia Lee, Chele Neisler and Marie Ynami joined together today to pick up on the conversation from yesterday.

This Week’s Theme - Bitterness & Boundaries: Making & Breaking Relationships in Life & Business

Chele said something important this morning to Tishia. Chele told Tishia that she felt their friendship was enriched because of Tishia allowing herself to be vulnerable yesterday and open her heart and be ‘real’ when she shared her story about what happened in her life with her son’s dad. Tishia shared that she didn’t realize that allowing herself to be open and real could enrich a friendship.

The ladies continued the conversation with talking about whether you are a good listener or not. Marie stepped up and offered a personal issue she has now that she has been a good listener to someone.

As a woman you have to be willing to open up and allow yourself to be vulnerable and open up to someone. You have to have a couple close relationships where you know it’s safe to be open, real and vulnerable!

Marie wanted to know some advice for helping her teenage daughter with a situation that has happened with a couple of her friends.

It was Tishia Lee, Cara Mirabella and Marie Ynami today on Mom’s Morning Show.

6 lb beef roast, any type or cut
4 med potatoes
4 lg carrots
1 lg onion
1 stalk celery
10 fresh mushrooms, sliced

1/3 C soy sauce
6 TBSP minute tapioca (thickens the gravy)
4 tsp minced garlic
S&P to taste
1 TBSP thyme
1 TBSP parsley

Place meat in crock pot.
Add vegetables, then liquids, then seasonings.
Cook on low 8 hours, or on high 4 hours.

Serve with warm biscuits or rolls and your favorite tossed salad.

Before the ladies began talking about this week’s theme, creative co-promotion ideas, the ladies were chatting about lists and list building. Tishia shared that for some reason the whole idea of building her list for her VA website holds her back. The other ladies provided some great suggestions and ideas for Tishia and how she can get started and just do it! The conversation about lists actually turned into the topic of the week, co-promotion by Marie when she was talking about ways to use your list to co-promote.

This Week’s Theme: Creative Co-Promotion

Although Kelly wasn’t able to be on the show, she did send some neat ideas to Tishia to share on the show about getting creative with your co-promotion tactics.

How about co-writing an article with someone else? This sparked lots of interests among the Moms Morning Show crew and a lot of people in the web chat. Can you think of a topic you would like to do an article about and who you could co-write with?

What about taking the co-writing an article to an even more interesting level? How about recording your audio and offering it to podcasts? Carrie Lauth, who joined the ladies as a caller later on into the show, shared that she has actually done this before.

Wonder Years Radio - Show #24

Feb 20, 2008 Author: Christina | Filed under: Uncategorized

Keeping young children entertained does not have to be costly. Simple projects done at home with the family will still be teaching opportunities and a chance to use up your stock of craft supplies!

This week my kindergarten daughter joined me as co-host and shared with us the meaning of President’s Day, what she’s learning about volcanoes, and how her class is celebrating the 100th day of school.

If you want to make your very own volcano, visit Wonder Years Radio for project links. The 100th day of school projects simply entailed finding 100 small objects and making something out of them. One friend drew an Easter bunny on cardboard and glued 100 jelly beans into his basket! Another friend make a monster out of that colored foam and glued 100 googly eyes on it!

Let their creativity run wild!

It’s Kelly McCausey, Chele Neisler, Marie Ynami and Carrie Lauth.

Congratulations to the blogging winners:
1st place: Carrie Lauth (35 posts)
2nd place: Barbara Ryan (22 posts)
3rd place: Annette Yen (18 posts)
Last chance drawing: Shannon Smith

Kelly was a little skeptical when a young man called into the show. Lord knows there have been some crank calls in the past! It turned out the kid was legit and just rallying for some votes for a contest he is in (and 6th in the Nation!). His name was Ricky Leblanc and he is asking for your votes to help send him to Hollywood. He is competing in a contest to be a TV show host. Go to www.bigshotlive.com, enter your zipcode and it will take you into the site. Find and vote for Ricky Leblanc.

Another beta day at Blog Talk Radio. Audio was lost in the chat. You can listen still listen to the archives.
