Kelly McCausey, Tishia Lee, Cara Mirabella and Carrie Lauth were the Mom’s Morning Show crew for today’s show.
Tishia had to step up on her soap box this morning and share about how frustrated she is with the situation of older kids picking on Caleb on the bus. It’s more than just the normal teasing, it’s been bad enough the past couple days that it’s upset Caleb so much it’s cause him to throw up. Yesterday Tishia had to pick Caleb up from school because of it. Today, she got another phone call that he was upset and throwing up. The teacher that called her today was taking matters into her own hands and calling the bus garage herself.
This Week’s Theme: Customer Appreciation
The ladies brainstormed ways that Tishia could show appreciation to her customers. For clients that refer a new retainer client, the idea suggested is that at the end of the first 30 days that she would give them a bonus hour of work for free. Cara suggested that providing a free report related to business might be a good idea. Carrie said that little freebies every once in awhile is a good idea - little things like seeing something that needs to be done & just doing it. Kelly was talking about how the one thing that a lot of people have problems doing for themselves is writing a little bio so that’s something that could be done to show a customer appreciation. Cara came back and said that giving clients shout outs on a message board or something is a good idea to. Marie suggested sending out like $5.00 gift cards to Starbucks or McDonald’s to clients. Everyone likes gift cards and $5.00 are inexpensive to get. Allison in the chat suggested gift cards for office supply stores. Tishia said along those lines you could go to a place like Chele’s Treasures and order personalized notepads, etc.
Kelly brought up the idea of possibly swapping deals with someone else. For example you would like to buy $25 worth of Cara’s coffee for your customers but that would be expensive so you talk to Cara about giving her a discount on services if she would be interested in bartering/giving you a discount on products.
Marie suggested that if you know your client well enough you could always send things like DVD’s w/popcorn, etc. You would have to know your client on a fairly personal level to do something like this.
On tomorrow’s show the ladies will be taking a break from the theme to enjoy a guest, Rae Hoffman. Rae is a big search engine optimization person. She’ll answer your questions and give you quick advice to improve your SEO. You can check Rae out on the web here. FYI enter site at your own risk - adult language!

Kelly McCausey and Mom’s Morning Show Crew Annette Yen, Chele Neisler and Marie Ynami came together this morning to carry on conversation about this week’s theme.
The ladies shared some small talk before jumping into the conversation pertaining to the theme of the week. Kelly shared that she will be giving away a $10.00 Wal-Mart gift card on the show today.
This Week’s Theme: Improve What You’ve Got: Putting a New Shine on an Old Business
Kelly asked if everyone has upgraded to WordPress 2.5 yet? Some people have and haven’t had any issues in the process while others have and have had some problems. Kelly shared that she’s been able to upgrade most of her blogs without any trouble but there was one time she had to seek Scott at Mom Webs assistance to fix up the borked (break/broke) blog.
The conversation turned to Twitter once again. Twitter seems to be a topic of conversation that the ladies will always discuss. They were talking about how many people you can follow and keep up with the tweets. Kelly shared that she doesn’t follow too many men and mostly people in her target market. Annette shared that she thinks the people who follow thousands of people use it as a way to spam them. Chele mentioned that she isn’t even using Twitter as a business ‘resource’ anymore, it’s all about personal use. Kelly said that’s ok as long as she doesn’t try and mix it up (both personal & business).
Mommy Fest is coming up on May 12th, 13th, 14th and 15th this year. Marie shared that every year she has to put a new shine on it each year. The tips that Kelly shared yesterday on the show are great ideas that Marie said she would be using.
Kelly had Marie share about using videos for your business. Marie shared that you have to promote your video. She tells her list about a video she just creates, she puts it on her blog, talks about it on her podcast, uses Twitter and just asking people to share the video.

Mom’s Morning Show Crew Kelly McCausey, Tishia Lee, Carrie Lauth, Cara Mirabella and Marie Ynami joined together today to carry on this week’s topic.
This Week’s Theme: Improve What You’ve Got: Putting a New Shine on an Old Business
Kelly provided the listeners with a list of five things that she would recommend you do if you are looking to brush off an old business and put a new shine on it. Here are the five tips that Kelly recommends:
Carrie was sharing about an older list that doesn’t seem to be getting any ‘bites’. Kelly and her talked about that for a couple minutes and Carrie threw around some ideas of things she could do to revive the list. Marie suggested that sending a survey to her list to see what they are looking for, great suggestion Marie!
The conversation got side tracked when Carrie mentioned Tishia’s blog post about what happened to her last night with some guy calling her fat. Kelly wasn’t aware of what had happened so she asked Tishia to share. Tishia shared the story and the ladies carried the conversation on with how wrong it is and how people don’t have a right to say things like to others, especially a complete stranger!

This Week’s Theme: Evaluating Business Ideas: Good, Bad or Just Plain Ugly?
The show started off with some small talk about the fairly new WordPress plug in Comment Luv. Carrie posted at Mom Masterminds about whether people were using it or not and what their thoughts were about it. Kelly said that she enjoys it and Aurelia just had it installed on her blog the other day but she does like it already.
The conversation turned to Twitter (that shouldn’t be surprising seems how the ladies are always talking about this cool social networking tool) and how Wendy Piersall (eMoms) created a list, The Ultimate List of Moms on Twitter.
Aurelia brought up an idea that Tricia has been throwing around. The ladies talked about that for awhile and threw out some suggestions for Tricia too.
On the Phone:
Patrysha Korchinski - Patrysha called in to share with everyone that she resigned from her J-O-B yesterday! She gave them 6 weeks notice. Congrats Patrysha!!!!

This Week’s Theme: Evaluating Business Ideas: Good, Bad or Just Plain Ugly?
The ladies talked a little bit about talking about business ideas and being careful of where you share that information. It’s free for all information if you are throwing it around out there for everyone to hear. Be careful!
Kelly brought the conversation around to talking about good/bad & the ugly of business ideas which led to the ladies talking once again about being honest with people if they are asking for critiques, about their business ideas. Tracy R in the web chat said that if she is asking for a critique she expects people to give her an honest answer whether it’s good or bad! She doesn’t want someone blowing smoke up her rump.
Kelly was asked that if she was approached by someone that wanted to do coaching with her but Kelly thought her business idea was a bad one if she would still go through with Kelly. Kelly said no I’ll be honest and tell the person what I think about the business idea and that I don’t have any ideas to help them.

This Week’s Theme: Evaluating Business Ideas: Good, Bad or Just Plain Ugly?
If someone is asking for your opinion of a business idea they have come up with do you give them your honest opinion or do you shy away from telling the truth because you are afraid of hurting their feelings?
Kelly shared that if someone posts on her forum about a business idea, etc she feels its her responsibility to give them her honest opinion. Marie said that she tells people what she thinks but she watches her words carefully because she doesn’t want to hurt their feelings. Kelly also suggested that you should consider the source you are getting your opinions from too.
We had a guest today. Shawn Kiraly Corry of Blue Skye Baby. Shawn offers baby registry assistance, nursery design, organization & set up just to name a few services she provides. She launched her business in January 2008. Her husband mentioned to her that she should do this as a business. Shawn researched the business and found there were some other consultants out there and there is now even an association.
