The terms “freegan” or “freegan living” have been in the news quite a lot lately. Oprah and other news stations have profiled this group of people who are making their political statement against our wasteful society and commercialism by taking fresh, wrapped food or other discarded items out of retail store dumpsters.
Chele is joined by Carrie Lauth from Natural Moms Talk Radio to discuss the basic tenets of freegan living. If the idea of “dumpster diving” or “diving for food” grosses you out, there are plenty of other things that you can find and reuse as part of freegan living. As Carrie explains, it’s not an extreme way of living frugally; it’s a way to recycle items that are still in good condition.

This week Chele talks about why every mother should have a stockpile of food and toiletries in their home. If you are not worried about losing a job or needing emergency surgery, then think about how high the prices will get just because of the cost of fuel. If it costs more to get products to the store, the price increase will most definitely be passed on to the consumer.

Customer service is lacking in many businesses and for a variety of reasons. Have you gone into a store recently - any store - and been able to find anyone who can help you find your product? Are any of the cashiers you meet during a day the least bit friendly or moving quickly?
We don’t pretend to have any answers but it sure is annoying that we, the consumers, are spending money everyday and have to deal with grumpy cashiers or retail workers who have no idea where things are located.
