WAHM Talk Radio #286

Online distractions – oh how many different ways there are to be distracted on the internet!  I posted about some of my issues with online distractions over the weekend and saw quite a few responses.  It’s clear that we all struggle with it in one way or another.  Listen in!

Is there something inherently wrong with playing games online?  Of course not.  But there is definitely huge potential for going overboard.   Since we work at home without supervision, we have to develop our own strategies for keeping some balance in our activities.

Use a Timer!

This isn’t nearly as corny as it sounds.  How many times do we say to ourselves ‘I’m just going to play for a half hour this time’?  Put some meat into those words and set a timer to warn you when your time is up.

Be Accountable.

If you’ve been letting distractions take control for a long time you may need to invite someone to hold you accountable to setting more ambitious goals and seeing them through in a measured time frame.
