Living in a recession is scary, especially if your business depends on other people spending their money on your products. This week Michelle discusses her Top 10 Ways to Recession Proof Your Business which is priceless advice for product sellers everywhere.
Many of the tips require some self examination as well as continued market research. Although this may seem redundant (since all good business owners should have done their market research before opening their doors) it’s still important to know how this recession is affecting your target’s spending habits. If there is a way you can adapt your products or customer service to better serve these new habits, then your business can survive these rough times.

Product Sellers Talk Radio #59

This week Michelle Waters discusses the ramifications of the CPSIA law which mandates product testing on handmade items designed for children. The basis of the law is good – to protect children from dangerous lead poisoning – but many small business owners cannot afford the product testing and will have to close their doors.
Michelle is joined by the founder of Just Be Products, Michelle Pratt-Lienhart. Michelle says she can’t afford the testing on her apparel line and will probably have to stop producing if the law isn’t changed. She also questions why the larger manufacturers are not held responsible for the testing since they are better able to absorb those costs.

Parenting My Teen #42
February 16, 2009 by Christina · Leave a Comment
Recently Aurelia was a guest on the Adventures in Parenting podcast hosted by Katy Lee. Katy is the mother of 3 teens and they discussed important ways to talk to your teen when they just want to be alone. Other topics they discussed included how to tackle the subjects of sex, drugs, and alcohol and how to create a non-judgmental environment where your teen will feel welcome to share thoughts and feelings.
Our friend and author Vanessa Van Petten from On Teens Today also joins us for a short segment about how to choose music for long car trips so parents and teens don’t drive each other nuts.
Enjoy!
