Mommy Community #33

My special guest for this audio is Dr. Diep Nguyen and we talk about “How to Prevent Still Birth”.
Dr. Diep Nguyen founded the BabyKick Foundation to educate moms, healthcare providers and policy makers about reducing the risk of pregnancy complications by monitoring babies’ movements. She is committed to preventing pregnancy complications by educating families about fetal movement—one of the most important indicators of a baby’s health. Decreased fetal movement (less than ten movements in two hours) can indicate risk for stillbirth, preterm birth and undetected growth problems.
Dr. Nguyen developed KickTrak to help moms easily record their kick counting sessions. Starting at 24 weeks, women use the digital device to record how long it takes their baby to make ten movements, once a day when the baby is most active—following the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists’ recommendation. Changes in the data allow a mom to promptly notify her healthcare provider of problems and potentially reduce the risk of pregnancy complications.
