Frugal WAHMs Talk Radio Show #73

November 6, 2008 by Angela

On today’s show we had a wonderful Guest Speaker, Deb Bixler. Deb was working from home when she decided to take nine months and see if working in direct sales was for her. Since then Deb has become a great coach and mentor to help other WAHMs looking to make a income and profession from Direct Sales.

Deb shared with us the reality that people who stay with direct sales or home party planning is 80/20, which means that eighty percent of those who start will not stay with it. Most fail because they didn’t work hard enough, didn’t work all the leads, and really didn’t invest in getting those bookings. Deb gave a great example:

Imagine a veterinary office which puts a big sign up on the street announcing what type of business they are, but that is not their sole form of advertising. They may advertise in the local paper or the yellow pages, or buy other forms of advertising. In other words, when working in Direct Sales or Home Party Planning, you need to advertise in as many unique and different ways instead of just hoping that booking will lead to more booked parties.
