Mom’s Morning Show crew Kelly McCausey, Tishia Lee, Aurelia Williams and Annette Yen came together this morning to talk about a fun topic - raising tweens and teens!
This Week’s Theme: Raising Tweens and Teens to be Savvy and Successful Adults
Kelly shared about how Sean is getting very involved with video games again and she voiced her opinion that she might need to ‘banish’ video games for awhile until he gets his rump in gear with his school work. It’s almost time for graduation and he’s a little farther behind than he should be.
Aurelia jumped in to share some suggestions with Kelly on how to get Sean motivated. One suggestion she provided was setting up a schedule but as Kelly said, she hates schedules.
Annette shared that she does not allow video games in her house. They’ve never had them and never will. Annette said that they also don’t watch TV.
Aurelia shared that her 16 year old daughter is very successful with school, etc but when it comes to finding a job, she is just pure lazy.

Annette is my hero! I swore I would never bring a video game system into my home, and I have never bought one, but my nephew gave my son a Nintendo DS. It was a constant battle to set limits with it, I hated that.
It’s broken now and he hasn’t replaced it, which I’m glad of, but he plays games on the computer. I allow 30 minutes a day. But again, it seems like a fight every day, which I despise. I think TV and video games/computer etc are inherently addictive. Even if the content is suitable, the act of playing/watching is time poorly spent. I would much rather my boys stare at the clouds or daydream.
