What Seth Should Know About Tishia

January 31, 2008 by Kelly · 12 Comments

Something fun has been afoot and I just have to insert a footnote.

One night last week some of my online friends gathered in a web conference room to cut loose and hang out with each other – and it turned into an impromptu virtual matchmaking session with Tammy Munson showing a pic of a family friend, Seth, to my Mom’s Morning Show co-host, Tishia Lee.

One thing led to another and now they’re twittering and emailing each other – is that fun or what? (Listen to Tuesday’s Mom’s Morning Show archive to hear all about it.)

Now… I don’t know Seth, but I do know Tishia and I feel like there are couple things Seth really ought to know.

So here we go…

What Seth Should Know About Tishia:

  • She takes words very seriously, so don’t throw them around carelessly.
  • She’s a great housekeeper. Her home is neat as a pin and she actually loves to do dishes… strange but true!
  • She’s not a needy woman. Maybe in the past… but not anymore, not in a long time. If she gives her heart to a man it will be because she loves him, not because she needs him.
  • She’s a giver. Even when she has been pinched herself I’ve seen her reach into her pocketbook to help someone else out.
  • She’s a doer. She has always been there for others, willing to pitch in and help out.
  • This past year she grew what I call a set of ‘Big Balls’ and started to believe that she is worth as much as I’ve known she was worth for as long as I’ve known her.
  • She’ll make someone an amazing wife someday… and I hope that the man who wins her will treasure her as a spouse as much as I treasure her as a friend.

Mommy Community #20

January 31, 2008 by Marie · Leave a Comment

This week, I interview Kelly McCausey of WAHMTalkRadio.com about the Importance of FOCUS in Business. She talks about “Entrepreneural ADD” and “Shiny Object Syndrome”. This was an interview that was done a year ago for Celebrating Women’s Day 2007. I know what your thinking … “if this interview is a year old, is it any good?” Well OF COURSE it is! The ideas Kelly shared are very thought provoking – this is a topic that does not get old because every once so often we need to take a step back and look at our business from a different angle. In this interview we talk about things like …

  • What does FOCUSing mean?
  • Why is Focusing important?
  • How do you figure out what you should focus on?
  • How not to succumb to distractions while trying to FOCUS
  • I guarantee that this audio will make you review your current FOCUS. I encourage you to share this resource with others. To see the resource’s mentioned, visit Mommy Community.

    Mom’s Morning Show #90

Sandra Jensen of Family Foodies was back this week to share the instructions for this week’s Crock Pot club recipe, Slow Cooker Potato & Canadian Bacon Chowder.

The topics of conversation were interesting to say the least. Then again isn’t that one of the fun things about a live show? You never know where the hosts will take you & with all the chat going on it’s easy to get sidetracked and talk about silly things.

Kelly has found an apartment and will be moving when her lease is up. She is heading over to be closer to her niece so it will make quad watching easier.

Kelly left everyone with one word to think about for the next blogging contest. Marathon. Hmm this should be interesting to find out what Kelly has up her sleeve.

Please pray for Tishia’s friend Seth in Iraq (and all our soldiers). He was hurt last night.

    This Week’s Recipe:
Slow Cooker Potato and Canadian Bacon Chowder
    Serves 2-4

    Ingredients:
2 C potato, scrubbed and cubed (I leave the skins on)
1 large carrot, diced or grated
1 C leeks, chopped, white part only (I will use 2-3 whole green onions, sliced)
    1 garlic clove, minced
    4 C chicken broth (may use fat-free)
    ½ C uncooked pearl barley
    1 Bay Leaf
    ¼ tsp thyme
    ¼ tsp black pepper
4 oz Canadian-style bacon (or ham)** cut into small pieces
3/4 C evaporated milk, half-and-half, or milk (may use fat-free)

    * This makes a small batch. I will definatley double it.
** You may use fried bacon if you prefer.
*** I will probably add a gob (1-2 TBSP) of butter also.

Combine all ingredients except milk and cream into crockpot.

Cook on low for 6 hours, or on high for 3 hours.

Before serving, add milk and cream, stir and cook uncovered for 10 minutes.

Serve with crunchy bread, or a tossed salad.

    On the Phone:
    Crystal

Crystal called in to ask for some opinions on blog contest prizes. She is hosting a blog contest and is going to be looking for a new design for the blog.

    Mom’s Morning Show #88

    January 29, 2008 by Tishia · Leave a Comment

Kelly took the day off so listen in as Chele Neisler and Annette Yen join Tishia on Mom’s Morning Show.

The ladies chatted about Twitter and all the interaction that takes place over there on a daily basis. Chele took a couple minutes to share about this week’s Moms Love Shopping show that will air on Friday and how Carrie Lauth joins her to talk about thrift shopping.

There was chatter about chocolate and if anyone had any suggestions/ideas for what Kelly could do for the next blogging contest.  Most of us think that fear can hold some people back from participating in contests, especially the recent one where it was required to interview show hosts. Sometimes people are afraid of feeling silly or afraid that they will say something wrong, etc so they just don’t participate.  It was suggested that the contest needs to be something middle of the road but fun to pull in more participants.

    Today’s WAH Topic: Time Management
This is something that has been talked about in the past but a new listener was asking all about how to manage working and family. Chele, Annette and Tishia took turns sharing their thoughts and opinions on the topic and Angie Newton called in to share her opinion as well. It was pointed out that there isn’t a one size fits all answer for this because everyone has their own situation so what works for one person isn’t going to work for someone else.

And to end the show the ladies asked for an update on Tishia’s new friend ;-)

    On the Phone:
    Angie Newton
    Tammy Munson
